Was That The Dryer?!
Today Supreme Court Justice Bryer was the guest on NPR's "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me". Of course we were a captive audience. We learned some interesting things about Justice Bryer like how he just missed being Jr. Justice for the longest amount of time by a couple of weeks. And how he picked up his robe in Boston about 35 years ago. It is made from synthetic fiber and does not collect lint (Paula Poundstone likes to get down to the details). We were all shocked to hear that the Supreme Court doesn't supply such an item. But the story reminded me of the time that Uncle B and I were in Washington D.C. when Pops was doing his Supreme Court internship. Pops had scored us some good seats for an oral argument. Uncle B and I were getting a little anxious because the court was running a bit late and I believe that we were all sitting there in a reverant hush. Suddenly, we heard a " BEEUZZZ!" coming from the room behind the bench that we were anticipating the Justices to walk through at any moment. Unlce B leaned over to me and said, "The robes are dry, the justices should be out any minute."
